Flow Illustrator Home

Easy to use, Flow Illustrator enables the visitor to make his/her own movies of fluid flows for educational purposes, presentations and recreation. The Movies section contains ready-to-use movies (also available as an option from the Movie Maker). The Movie Maker allows you to upload your own picture of the body and create a movie of the flow past this body (so that you can even make a movie of a flow past yourself or a colleague!). You can also choose the body from a library and adjust its shape. The movie duration, speed, and other parameters can also be specified.

This level of flexibility and efficiency is made possible by an original fast algorithm for flow calculations, specially designed for this purpose.

This site has been working for more than two years now with remarkably few problems.  Please note, however, that the developer, Sergei Chernyshenko, now works at Imperial College London, having only a visitor status at the School of Engineering Sciences of the University of Southampton, where this server is based. If there is a physical disruption of the service, the server reboots, but the Movier Maker may then show incorrect length of the queue, and it can take some time before this is corrected: the server can be used anyway. See More info for details. To send comments, questions and suggestions to the developer, please use the e-mail address at the Imperial College (see the link above), rather than the older Southampton address.
